About This Blog

If you worked in an office, your supervisor would send you memos to give you instructions or information.  I believe that God, by providing His Word, has done something similar for us.  The purpose of this blog is to look at short passages of scripture, God's memos, to determine what He is telling us.  II Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that all scripture comes directly from God.  If we believe that God is perfect and all-powerful, it is easy to believe that His Word is true.  But even if we don't, there are still valuable principles that can be learned from it.  Those verses go on to say that God's Word is "useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work."

Matthew 6:33 says, "But above all pursue His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

I believe that the best way to know God, to pursue His kingdom and righteousness, is to pray and to read and understand the Bible.  While keeping the larger context in mind, I will endeavour to find God's message in each of these passages.  It may give us instruction, encouragement, comfort, hope, (Romans 15:4-6) or simply be a reminder of His great love for us, but in every case I believe it will help to equip us for every good work.

About Me

I am a former language teacher, and I have taught both elementary and secondary students.

I have been attending church since before I was born, and so my Bible education includes years of sermons, Sunday School, Bible classes, small group Bible studies and conferences. I also do a lot of reading, and read dozens of commentaries on a passage before beginning to write the post for it.

I began this blog because I wanted to more deeply pursue God's kingdom, to know Him better. I hope you will join me.
